Old Omen Road, Tyler, Texas

Brannon Corporation engineers designed the Old Omen Road project from Spur 248 south about 8,000 feet to G.E./Shiloh Road converting the old county oil road to a beautiful four lane thoroughfare with continuous landscaped medians and bike lanes.

In excess of 130,000 cubic yards of dirt had to be moved to construct the road. Over 27,000 lineal feet of concrete curb and gutter were installed and over 6,500 tons of hot mix asphaltic concrete. Most of the construction took place while through-traffic was maintained which increased the degree of difficulty immensely. The $8.6 million project was funded by the city’s Half Cent Sales Tax.  Contractor for the project was A. E. Shull Company, Inc., of Tyler, Texas. The project took just over 24 months to construct.
