Tarrant County College, Northeast Campus, Hurst/North Richland Hills The Tarrant County College District (www.tccd.edu) covers Fort Worth (Texas) and surrounds and includes full campuses in five locations. The Northeast Campus already had an indoor pool but, as with many of us, age took its toll; age, and the fact that the pool was heavily used by classes, swim teams, and the public. The pool was scuffed up from SCUBA classes and rowing/canoeing classes. The plaster was peeling off in places. The main drains hardly worked and the filtration and disinfection stream needed replacing. Tarrant County College through its project managers Parsons Group/3DI (www.parsons.com) selected Brannon for the design of the new facilities. The project included:
A stainless steel perimeter system was selected by Brannon because it would limit the amount of pipe that would have to be placed under the deck while allowing for in-pool surge capacity in lieu of expensive concrete vessels. It also afforded the best coping option for dragging canoes into and out of the water at the indoor pool. Pool contractor selected was Sunbelt Pools, Inc. out of Dallas (www.sunbeltpools.com). Total project cost ran just under $1,000,000. The pool opened in time for 2008 fall semester classes.
