Tyler Junior College Pat Hartley Soccer Complex - Tyler, Texas

The Brannon Corporation converted a virtual hole in the ground into two collegiate, tournament level, lighted soccer fields with bleacher seating for 1,000 spectators, walking trails, fencing, irrigation, retaining walls and earthwork and field and storm drainage system.  A major drainage ditch ran through the site and was encased in a 10' x 10' box culvert over 500 feet long.  Over 20,000 cubic yards of dirt were moved on the site to level it and cover the storm drain.  A rapid draining sand layer was placed over the fill and under the turfgrass. Bermuda Sultan hybrid was planted over the fields.

The lighting system consists of 1000 watt metal halide fixtures on six eighty-foot galvanized steel tapered poles with a consistent 50 foot-candle delivery to the playing surface.  The electrical design required design of new transformers and connection to the overall campus electrical power grid.

Total project cost was over $1.0 million. Five separate contracts were awarded and coordinated by Brannon project engineers. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) soccer tournament is scheduled on this site for the Fall, 2000.
